Heeeeeeeeeeeey beautiful people !!! Remember, you are the author of your life, and I hope everyone has had a fabulous week.

Heeeeeeeeeeeey beautiful people !!! I hope everyone has had a fabulous week.

This week we are going to touch base about the importance of becoming the author of YOUR life, learning to STOP asking for permission.

We have all been there: holding back, waiting for someone else to say it’s okay. Waiting for the green light. Waiting for the “go ahead” or the “approval”. And meanwhile your inner voice whispers, “If only they said yes…”

Stop asking for permission!!

But here’s the truth: YOU DO NOT NEED permission. You are the writer, director, and lead actor of your own life. And your story deserves the voice of you. This post if your permission slip–to stop waiting and start creating. To reclaim your agency. To become the author of your own narrative.

Here’s a list of a few different things you can do, to get you comfortable with becoming your own author!!

  1. Recognize When You’re Asking for Permission
    • Awareness!! Ask yourself : Am I waiting for someone else to tell me I can? Am I shrinking my dreams until someone else approves?
    • When you catch yourself saying things like “If only I had the budget/someone else’s okay/I waited until….” that’s the signal. You’re asking for permission.
      • Empowerment tip: Write down three things you’ve delayed because “I need permission .” Then commit to doing one of them this week!
  2. Understand Why You wait
    • There are many reasons we wait : fear of failure, fear of judgment, not wanting to upset someone, societal programming and more. But staying stuck is more costly than the risk of action. As one of your favorite slogans might go: “I Am Phenomenal.” And phenomenal people DON’T wait for a yes–they decide and move.
      • TIP: Journal or reflect on: What’s the worst that could happen if you act without permission? Often you’ll find the consequence is far smaller than the regret of inaction.
  3. Reclaim Your Role as Author
    • Here’s where things get exciting. When you decide you’re the author of your life:
    • You give yourself the permission you’ve been waiting for and that is all that you need. You also set your own standards — not SOMEONE else’s.
    • Also, you give yourself the agency to choose direction, to pivot, to evolve.
      • Action Step: Write a “scene” in our life you to live next. Visualize it. Describe it. Then take one small step today toward it.
  4. Build a New Habit of Self-Permission
    • This isn’t a one time shift, It’s a daily practice. Start your morning with: “Today I choose…” rather than “If I can…”
    • Always celebrate the little “yeses” you give yourself.
    • When old voices chime in, pause and respond: ‘I am giving myself permission now.”
      • TIP: Create a “Permission Ledger” (digital or notebook). Every time you act without external approval, write it down. Watch the list grow.
  5. When Others Push Back
    • Of course: When you claim your power, others might feel unsettled. There’s always that one person LOL. Some will support you, some will resist. That’s ok!!
    • Hold your boundary gently but firmly.
    • Remind yourself: You’re not doing it to upset others. You’re doing it because you matter.
    • Connect with your community (friends, mentors, your Empowering Edit sisters, https://theempoweringedit.blog) who get it.
      • TIP: Next time someone tries to sway your choice with “Are you sure you have permission for that?” Answer: YES–I just gave it to myself!!
  6. Write the Next Chapter With Intention
    • With your permission mindset in place, you can start scripting your next chapter with clarity. Ask:
      • What do I want to feel in my next season?
      • What values will guide my next move?
      • What story am I leaving behind, and what story am I stepping into?
      • ACTION: Create a mini manifesto: 3-5 sentences that say, “‘In this next chapter I Will….” Display it somewhere visible (mirror, phone lock screen, salon wall.)
  7. You’re Not Alone–Here Are Some Empowering Voices to Listen To
